Blockchain & Georgian Wine

A blockchain project in collaboration with Cardano Foundation, Point of Origin, and the Georgian National Wine Agency

I serve as a consultant for a pilot project in the Bolnisi region of Georgia (Kvemo Kartli). I have collected data from over twenty wineries, including product metadata and winemaker narratives. Alongside my Georgian counterpart, I craft written narratives, support landing page creation, and lead data management, maintaining and uploading over 100,000 data points consisting of digital IDs, wine lot numbers, and product metadata. The final product includes “landing pages” with blockchain data, as can be seen through scanning (or clicking on) the QR code below.

The project also aims to showcase Bolnisi’s rich winemaking heritage, tracing the origins of these current Bolnisi winemakers to their ancestors and material heritage, much of which has strong ties to Swabian German immigration, resulting in regionally-distinctive contemporary winemaking approaches such as fermentation in oak barrels or large oak vats.
